February 2014 -
From the tasting room to the ten pin lanes, it turns out
wine isn’t the only thing our employees are good at
rolling out. Winery at Wilcox staff members traded
their wine bottles for bowling balls last weekend
when we gathered at DuBois Bowling Lanes for
some team bonding. Having locations across
Pennsylvania, it can be difficult for everyone to meet
up, so we took our employees out of the store and
placed them on the lanes.
Employees from our Wilcox, DuBois, State College
and Settler’s Ridge locations made up two teams,
Shenanigans Strikes Again and Ten Pins of Pain.
After a couple of hours of spares, strikes and gutter
balls, Team Shenanigans would bring home the
gold. And while it’s pretty safe to say none of us will
be quitting our day jobs to become professional
bowlers, we all enjoyed working with and cheering on
our fellow teammates…which in the end makes us all
winners!
November 2014 -
The Winery at Wilcox was honored to accept recognition from
the House of Representatives. Representative Mathew M.
Gabler presented Winery at Wilcox Vice President
Jamie Williams with a citation this November for the winery’s
exemplary community involvement.
The award states, “The House of Representatives of
Pennsylvania takes great pleasure in recognizing those
organizations which contribute to the benefit of their
community and ultimately to all citizens of the Commonwealth."
The Winery at Wilcox celebrated 20 years in business this
summer. Over those two decades we have prided ourselves
on our involvement in the local community. Our Hope Whispers
project has donated $18,000 to the Breast Care Services at
the Hahne Regional Cancer Center at Penn Highlands
Healthcare since 2010. We’ve also teamed up with the
DuBois Fire Company to produce a special label program
that gives back to the DuBois community.
The award also highlights the involvement of our owners on both state and national levels. Winery President Mike
Williams and Vice President Jamie Williams have been active in not only Pennsylvania and Ohio’s wine industry
boards like the Farm Bureau Board of Directors and Ohio’s State Board (OGIC), but also national industry boards,
like WineAmerica. Jamie Williams, states, “We are proud to have helped pave the way for the future of
Pennsylvania’s wine industry, while helping other wineries succeed along the way.”
